Fair 'nuff. These arguments are perfectly valid. (In fact, I bought
SuSE 6.3 for the similar reasons). Supporting your chosen linux
distro is one important argument which I did leave out.
And by the way, I've been on both sides of the fence in terms of
having access to a fast internet pipe; That's why my points are
qualified by "esp, if you can download images/software or have someone
burn off a copy."
I reckon this thread has covered all the argument both for and against
buying boxed-packages.
