Not at all, one way or the other, I would think. The openness or closedness
of Motif is not relevant to traditional UNIX suppliers - AFAIR they pay a
once off license fee (and it's not terribly high) to The Open Group for the
right to use Motif so its being open won't make much difference to them -
they'll stick with Motif or switch to KDE/Gnome for other reasons. Anyway,
haven't all the traditional UNIX suppliers switched to CDE by now - at least
Sun & HP have, and I think Compaq (Digital) and IBM too.
