I honestly don't think that it was part of the argument, since there was never a
suggestion of restricting access to anyone but the spammers. By using
RewriteRules (or 'deny' rules) in the Apache config, only user agents on the
list previously posted would be blocked, which are proven spambots. Using my
suggestions, no-one at all would be blocked, but the spambots would be less
likely to be able to add any addresses to their databases. Granted, they could
find a way around it, but that would probably only happen if the method of
obfuscation became a standard. The RewriteRules (or again, 'deny' rules) are a
good thing anyway, because it will restrict unnecessary spidering of the site,
thus reducing the load.

I agree, although I disagree with the first part - that there would be anything
"of interest to the global Linux user". I've found myself redirected to the ILUG
archives on many an occasion while searching Google, and had my questions
answered. But it's neither here nor there anyway, as I've explained above.
