Hi all,

A friend of mine has been given the task of coming
up with a way to notify a central database of user's attempts to
open a door which is protected by swipe card access control.
He's wondering if anybody has developed a nix based solution to
this kind of problem. Incorporating a swipe card reader and a small
controller unit running some embedded nix variant. This unit would
preferrably support
tcp/ip networking.

If anyone on the list has any ideas then send them to
me and I'll forward them on.

I apologise for the brevity of problem description.
I'm very busy at the moment.

Thanks in advance,

    ...shane
