Well, our experience had led us to avoid Dell for anything. We have an
IBM ThinkPad 390X with RedHat 6.2 that's been doing just fine.
I've just asked its current custodian and the summation was:
RedHat runs fine, haven't tried the IR, sound took a bit of juggling
but is fine now and support for the docking station is good too.
