ah... well in that case you should ask your vendor for a kernel
update. :)

of course. And since your question was about Linus' kernels, then
you should have no problem with Linus' patches. :)

so stick with the vendor kernel packages then :)

and if you really want fast then download the patch!

how difficult can the following be:

cd /usr/src/linux
bzcat /wherever/patch-2.2.15.bz2 | patch -p1

as compared to:

cd /usr/src
tar -zxspf /wherever/linux-2.2.15.tar.bz2

?
