linus backed out a lot of the messier stuff for pre9-2, and made his own
simpler changes instead.

pre9-3 is then an attempt to build the new style vm according to linus'
'simpler' way, but missing some crucial fixes/tweaking - which should be
in pre9-4.

yuk... if NVidia had released their stuff as /readable/ source, then maybe
someone might have fixed that...
