DLink are a card vendor, who may use various better or worse chipsets
depending on what market segment they are addressing.

I've never had a minute's trouble with a tulip based card EXCEPT for the box
I have here which the kids use to play games - I have an SMC Etherpower PCI
card, the one for which the Tulip driver was originally developed (I think
SMC were the first mainstream user of Tulip chips after DEC), and it works
fine in this box with Linux. However, after the usual stream of 'doze 98
reboots for the install, the ****ing thing comes back and says "Your network
card is not working properly". It's enough to drive a man to drink . .
