[ILUG] [OT] - Hosting

Even worse is one provider in the states charging to make your
error.log file available for you to examine...
...which goes to emphasise you should test your CGIs on a local machine if
possible.

#I always piss myself laughing when I see "setup fee"
#associated with "domain
#registration" (apart from dotIE's that is, because they're a
#pain in the ass).
#It's like Vservers used to charge me $20 to add a domain name
#to the server, and
#$10 for a canonical. That was just to add them to the
#nameserver, nothing to do
#with domain registration. Now how long does it take? A minute?
#
#Even domain registration is automated these days - I can have a dotCOM
#registered and set up on my server for twenty quid in five
#minutes using
#"traditional methods". Using Webmin for the DNS work, I can
#cut it to one or
#two. And when I set up my own system, It'll just be a case of
#filling in a
#domain name and choosing an IP from a drop-down box - just a
#few seconds work.
#
#Greedy bastards the lot of 'em, that's all I can say. And the
#Irish "providers"?
#They should all be wearing masks... :)
