[ILUG] Mpeg Performance increases with 2.4.9-test

[ILUG] Mpeg Performance increases with 2.4.9-test

Hi all,

Well I finally got around to checking the figures out.

I upgraded my 2.2.12 kernel to 2.4.9-test??? can't remember exactly but
anyway.

I used to be able to play maybe three mpegs simultaenously - which sucks
compared to Windows (any version)

I heard reports from a dude that 2.4 increases the frame rates from 25 to 30
a sec and drops cpu usuage from 80% to 20%.

So I decided to test this as I could not believe it. Well its true, I got
exactly the same figures as my friend.

So if you like mpegs and all things video, then go for a 2.4 based kernel,
its due out soon anyway.

Have fun.
