Just thought I'd let you know about this as I didn't see anyone else
mentioning it.
There was a 3 page spread in Friday's (Nov 3rd) Irish Examiner "Connect"
supplement about Open Source being the future of the Internet. The main
article talked about Open Source in general, including quotes by (and a
big piccy of) Ross Lynch of the Galway LUG. There were also articles
about *BSD, Peer to Peer networking (Jabber, Freenet etc.), and the
debate over <spit>software patents</spit>.
The main article can be found online at
http://www.electricnews.net/ffocus.html?code=725106
The patent and BSD articles will hopefully appear on electricnews.net
soon, and the p2p article is supposed to be online at
http://www.topgold.com/connect
but the site isn't up to date yet.
Unfortunately, the patent article was spoilt in the middle by the
misprinting of a picture over some of the text, but the rest of the
article seemed fairly anti-patent in tone :-)
Maybe we could get copies of the articles for the linux.ie site? The
email address for the supplement is connect at examiner.ie if anyone wants
to follow this up.
Cheers,
Sean
