While people are ranting about Surf No Limits, I have another
rant. Anyone apart from me having serious problems with Dell Ireland
Spare Parts Department.
I ordered four DIMMs over four weeks ago (for a selection of P250-P450
Dell PCs). I couldn't find the Irish spare parts internet order
webpage (I'm assured it exists but four weeks on I still can't find
it), so I mistakingly choose UK, placed my order and got an internet
receipt number. Someone from Bray rang me a couple of days later
saying that it would be cheaper to order from the Irish site which
made perfect sense so I asked him if you would look after it for
me. He said he would.
That was over four weeks ago and I haven't heard a word since. Without
exaggerating, I have made over twenty calls to Dell in Bray. I have
been on hold for countless hours, spoken to three sales people, four
receptionists, two customer support people but the person who
originally took my order is not returning my calls. All the other
people that I speak to say that there is nothing that they can do,
that only the person who originally took the order can deal with this
matter and that they will ask him to contact me. When his manager
returned from holidays I tried to talk to her but as seems to be
endemic in Dell all you get is voicemail and believe it or not, she
won't return my calls either. I haven't been especialy rude to these
people beyond the fact that I would like the goods that I ordered and
do from time to time says things like, that is not good enough, but in
the grand scale of things I think I have shown considerable contraint.
Does anyone have any advice for me ? The last voicemail I left to the
middle managers voicemail was to the effect that I would like my call
to be returned and that this was the last time that I was leaving a
message. I'm going to stick with that course of action, it is pen and
paper from now on. Does anyone know who would be a good person in Dell
to talk to about this ? I presume that Dell upper management would
like to know that this kind of thing is going on. Does anyone know
what my legal rights on the matter are ? They haven't debited the
credit card from what I can tell but as they get proprietary memory
manufactured by Kingston I'm not sure if I can buy this elsewhere
either.
Regards,
Dermot.
