if you do this command: man ascii iso_8859_1 iso_8859_15 iso_8859_7
you'll get a chart of values and their representations in ascii and the
above three char sets[0] for the values 0-127,160-255.  what's the deal
with the hole there?

second question.  modems suck.  i hate them.  i've been ramming my head
against three of them for the past week.  grumble.  fsckers.  anyone know
of a good page on modem compression and error correction settings?
in particular for 1200 baud.  hell, at this point i'll order a book from
fatbrain if someone can recommend one.

[0]  it's likely i'm using improper terminology here, sorry.  i'm not only
     not a font/typography geek, i can't play one on the net.  i do like
     the results though if that's any consolation...
