actually, i'm not using a relaying facility.  my laptop is the origin
of my mail.  what i'm looking to set up *is* relaying, but i'm trying
to do it in such a way that it's an authenticated relay.

and it does seem that clubi is at times dropping, at times refusing and
at times accepting my mail.

and while refusing mail from dial-ups is a practical necessity, i wouldn't
say it is "right."  it's just something that needs to be done because of
the anti-social behaviour of a certain group of people.  and if a recent
/. story about at&t and other large isp's actions allowing spammer's
is true, it's not going to be an effective method for much longer.
which is annoying.
