[ILUG] mouse gone mad on laptop

[ILUG] mouse gone mad on laptop

CPQ Armada V300, XF4.0.1:

the mouse on my laptop has gone mad..

i was in X and the mouse just started to behave strangely. Left click
seems to be sticky now, i have to right click to cancel it - otherwise
the mouse selects everything while i move it. I can't double-click or
single-click. middle button still seems to work.

this is happening on both the external mouse and the laptop's
touchpad...

This type of thing has happened before very occasionally (XF3.3), but
a restart of X always cleared it. I've now restarted X a good few
times, rebooted the laptop, completely shut down and restart,
reconfigured X to use gpm in repeater mode, disabled gpm, etc... but
no joy. Mouse still doesn't work properly.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? And how can i fix it?
