Quick question here:
I'm trying to install MySQL onto a Redhat 6.2 machine. It is complaining
about Perl5 not being present (see below).
--------------------------------------
rpm -i -vv MySQL-3.23.28-1.i386.rpm
<snip>
D: requires: /usr/bin/perl5 unsatisfied.
D: package MySQL require not satisfied: /usr/bin/perl5
error: failed dependencies:
/usr/bin/perl5 is needed by MySQL-3.23.28-1
---------------------------------------
I have perl-5.00503-10 installed.
I have tried two things:
1 - make a symbolic links /usr/bin/perl5 -> /usr/bin/perl
2 - actually make a copy of that file.
Neither work.
I could use the "--nodeps" option in rpm, but I'd perfer not to, just in
case the package needs something else that I don't actually have. A
"--nodeps" option with the choice to manually accept/reject an error/missing
file would be great.
Anyway, just to satisfy my curiosity, how do I install this package...
either by getting it to recognise the fact that I DO have perl 5 installed,
or ignore only that error.
If no one knows a nice way to get around it, I'll just use the "--nodeps"
option, but if I can figure this problem out, it might help if it reoccurs
with something that IS important (I'm just messing with MySQL on this
machine).
Thanks,
Tim
