[ILUG] rpm question

[ILUG] rpm question

When it comes to MySQL it's actually better to install the binary as
it's compiled against a patched glibc and other libraries that the MySQL
guys have tracked down bugs in. I installed it yesterday on the same
distro and added the "--nodeps" for the client RPM.. This came up about
4 or 5 times in the past month on the MySQL list.

Donncha.
