[ILUG] getting online

[ILUG] getting online

I have the same type of modem on my Dell machine. I contacted Dell and they
sent me a driver but it still would not work.
I then bought an Elsa Microlink 56k modem from Maplin's in Jervis St. (
Dublin ) for £56. It works great with Linux and if I use it with Windows, I
get a download speed of 44,600kps. I could only get a little over 33,000kps
with the internal modem. It is a good buy. Just connect it to the COM 1 port
at the back of your PC; switch on the power and Linux will detect it
immediately. You do not need to install the drivers which are supplied on a
floppy. (Unless you are going to use Windows of course.) If you have any
further questions, just contactact me at eugeneo at esatclear.ie

Regards,
Eugene O'Leary.
