I have been thinking about buying a colour printer for a while also. best site
i found on the subject was:
www.linuxprinting.org
It seems that the best support in the inkjet range at the moment is for Epson
Stylus models of various sorts. Search database for all perfectly working
colour inkjets, and you get a fair selection.
Printer drivers seem to be getting poorer rather than better from what i can
see as the printer manufacturers get more secretive about their drop modulation
technology and whatver else.
Also have a look at
http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/
for more promising developments (though i am not really qualified to judge)
