Thanks for all the reply's, filled me on what i needed to know, networks
are no problem i have computers, NIC's and cable coming out my ears : )
Actually while im on the subject - anyone got a mother board that would
take 2 X PII 333's???? I sort of destroyed mine ; ) (pluged it in to a
generator with out surge gear.... at least it hasnt booted since and iv
checked all the other bits and bobs and they work) That or somthin cheap
that would take one of the 333's??? nothin with onboard (sound or graphics)
crap preferbly..... : )
Anyway back to the subject..... A very good point raised in on of the
replys was that a lot of distros these days arnt really geared towwards old
486's (there DX4 100mhzs or Enhanced DX4's as the BIOS likes to call em)
What would be the best, i'll be uising them for personal use on a network
of up to maby 8 varied boxes and 5 or 6 users, i'd like to run a lot of the
network stuff and generaly use and abuse them as much as possible, have
SuSE 6.4 Cd's and Redhat 5.2 and 6.2
But im open to suggestions
Both Boxes have the same spec
DX4 100mhz CPU's
16 megs of RAM
540 meg harddisks (storage for anything bar the OS and general progies is
not neccary)
3com ISA NIC's
On-board graphics, somthin basic
floppy drive (Duh!! : ) )
Im probably expecting wonders but then again it is Linux.....
Thx
Andrew
