It's probably good to have *a* dns server on the mail machine. Whether it's 
a good thing to have *the* dns server on the mail machine is debatable. 

The mail machine could get by with just a dns cache that gets *the* dns
server to do all its lookups. Maybe.

IMHO, anyway.
