I don't think there is such a thing as an ethernet port TA, but I'd recommend
you get an external serial port TA assuming you're using Linux, because
external TAs look just like a high speed modem to the hardware so if you've
ever had a modem running there's no need to check for drivers, kernel
recompilation or fidgetting with ppp configs and so on.
