sounds exactly like what i was imagining. a bundle of networks with a
hodge-podge of radio links connecting them, and BGP to figure out the
routing between the networks (and internet if some of the networks
allow the MAN traffic to go through their 'net connection be it 56k
modem/ISDN/etc).
course there are 2 disadvantages:
1. it won't be fast
2. next generation of GSM data services might obsolete such a MAN
very quickly.
