[ILUG] Telnet problem

I have just installed MDK 7.1 .  Everything was working fine, I could telnet
in no problem.  I made some changes to the SAMBA config using Webmin. I
copied over some files using FTP and then shut down the machine because I
needed to move it. When it came back up everything seemed OK. I can access
the files through the SAMBA share and I can connect with FTP , but I can no
longer telnet into the box.  I tried logging onto the box locally using root
and telnetting to localhost and just get the error "Connection closed by
foreign host" .

I'm not sure where to even look for error messages so any help would be
appreciated.
