[ILUG] xmps, movie player

Has anyone used the XMPS movie player? It's supposed to use Windows DLLs
to play ASF and other formats for which there is no player available on
Linux. 
I tried it on two machines and unfortunetly didn't work on either.
(RH6.1 and Mandrake 7)
xmps would either freeze and print error messages to the console about
the asf file not being a proper asf file, or seg fault if I loaded an
mpg..
