I tested VNC tunnelled over a compressed ssh connection a while back
on 10baseT, and the performance was pretty decent. Since the
VNCserver is just a special X server, you get none of the display
glitches you see on Windows VNC servers. Using VNC also means you can
avoid buying an X server for the Windows end.
