It doesn't make sense to do so for plaintext, though for documentation
written in SGML or LaTeX there is arguably "source code" and "object
code". Nevertheless, the GPL is a poor choice for licensing
documentation. Part of the impetus for the creation of the FDL was
that people *were* GPLing documenation. Alas, I didn't have a copy of
the FDL readily to hand.
