[ILUG] fetchmail newbie question

With netscape mail I can get pop3 mail from another machine
'mail.nuvotem.com' on my lan.

i tried a  'fetchmail mail.nuvotem.com' and it asked me for a password,
tells me I have one message, but then it fails with an SMTP error trying to
connect to localhost.

I tried the same as root, and it gives me an authentication error, which is
correct as the mail server is a win98 machine, and there is no 'root'
account on it !

I did have a look in the /var/log/maillog and /var/log/messages, but nothing
that makes any sense to me appears there !!

Any suggestions ?
