You can install
and I think mandrake has an alpha distribution too (slackware were talking
about it too IIRC).
You really want to change it to SRM (check the docs on ALO) to boot linux,
and you have to to boot *BSD.
MILO isn't supported by Ded Rat 7+ any more, so you won't be able to easily
install from the AlphaBIOS console with them (it's doable, but it involves a
good understanding of the boot systems).
