If you want a really cheap organiser look at the m100 or the IIIe
(discontinued soon) from palm - these sync beautifully with linux (this
months or last months Linux Format had a great article on syncing with
palms).
The only problem with both these models is that you can't upgrade the OS on
them so you are stuck with whatever it has out of the box...
