i'll presume you are using redhat...
get the latest cipe from sourceforge. build the RPM from it (rpm -tb
<cipetarball>, although their rpm spec file tends to be broken and
needs massaging to get it work usually.
(if you have no qualms about installing from a tarball, then do that)
you must have the kernel-headers package installed so that it can
build the cipe kernel module.
install cipe
configure cipe:
- copy the example if{up,down}-cipcb to
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts, aswell as the example ifcfg-cipcb0
file.
- edit the ifcfg-cipcb0 file. it should be fairly self evident.
PEER is the real or carrier IP:port of the remote system.
IPADDR and PTPADDR are the local and remote IP's of the VPN link.
Then you need an /etc/cipe/options.cipcb0, it at a minimum should
contain a key, but options like maxerr and ping can be useful too. eg:
key af3dc2e92a198130dcd65cceab627edd
maxerr -1
The key you can generate with "ps auxw | md5sum"
that's about it...
