[ILUG] losing connections to IMAP servers

[ILUG] losing connections to IMAP servers

Hi,

I've been having a problem with an IMAP server recently, where the
client seems to drop the connection or get cut off, and the server
(UW IMAP 2000) continuously logs the following :

Feb 6 12:08:36 sabre imapd[17933]: Command stream end of file, while
reading line user=username1 host=blah.blah.com [xxx.yyy.zzz.aaa]

The other problem, which seems to have arisen at the same time and
which may be connected, is that mail clients are having difficulty
copying sent mail to the relevant folder. This does not *always*
happen, so I suspect it may be a timing issue.

As far as I know, most of the clients are going through a NAT gateway
on a 2.2.x linux machine, and this is one of the things I suspect may
be causing the problem by terminating connections abruptly.

So, has anyone else come across this problem in a mailserver, and
if so, are there any quick solutions, such as increasing timeouts on
NAT connections?

Regards,

Vin
