[ILUG] X with an Intel i810

[ILUG] X with an Intel i810

Mel mel at csn.ul.ie
Tue Feb 13 14:38:24 GMT 2001

Has anyone experience setting up X with an intel i810 graphics card. They
come with Dell OptiPlex GX110's.

I'm loading the minimal amount of modules in case there was something in
the other modules

Section "Module"
        Load "ddc"
        Load "vbe"
        Load "int10"
EndSection

and the device line is

Section "Device"
        Identifier "Generic Video Card"
        Driver "i810"
        Option "NoAccel" "no"
EndSection

I have no frame buffer support in the kernel so it can't be that either.
But I always get a message

Fatal server error:
AddScreen/ScreenInit failed for driver 0

when I try to start X.

The full error log is at http://www.csn.ul.ie/~mel/XFree86.0.log . I would
really appreciate it if someone takes a look at it because it's got me
stumpted.

On a side and unrelated note, I finally got around to walking the Debian
path. It is most certainly the way of the future once the initial setup is
in place. Alas, my RedHat install died a quick and sudden death as a
result :-/
