 Hiya

 I think the idea sounds like a good one
 I use IRC alot, and have found it a very
 good way to help/teach people things
 Just don't try to connect to an IRC network Like DAL, or EFNET, etc
 because you will be DOS'd by script kiddies trying to takeover #channels
 It is possible to run a simple IRC server and not join networks.
 But I presume you know this,
 Bernard mentioned ppl not being able to connect because they don't have
 access to
 port 6667/6668/6669. this can easily be overcome by using a BNC (bouncer).
 I use one all the time on IRC , it protects my identity, and stops people
 flooding my connection,
