It's usually wrong to redirect stdout & stderr
to the same place, as the sink will have no
way to know whether the data is valid input
or error. If you really don't care about the
errors then pipe them to null: in bash you
do this like:

ls -R | grep "java" > some.file 2>/dev/null &
