[ILUG] [Way OT]Video Standards

Hi All,
 
I know this is way OT, but does anyone know of any sites that describe the
standards and performance of RGB, composite, SCART, S-Video and those other
wonderful standards.
I'm messing around with some stuff at home, and I just need to work out he
best way of doing it, like whether to spend £400 on a receiver.....
