[ILUG] Europe chickens out of outlawing spam

"A European committee has blocked plans to outlaw unsolicited commercial
email dealing a major blow to anti-spam supporters.

An amendment tabled by UK Labour MEP and former Eastenders soap star, Michael
Cashman, was adopted by the Citizens' Rights and Freedoms, Justice and Home
Affairs Committee earlier today."

This has yet to be passed by a full meeting of the European Parliament is
September.   I expect to be talking to Padraig Flynn later today on the phone
and would like to be able to speak on behalf of the ILUG in telling him that
we oppose spam in all it's forms, and why.

I've put this to the committee and it has been approved, so now what remains
is to get any objections from the rest of ILUG. In the interest of not
flooding the mailboxes of everybody can people please NOT reply to the list.

Thanks,

Ruairi
