I fully agree with Colm here.  There is an Irish list suitable 
for this kind of question: technobabble at redbrick.dcu.ie.

Remember that there are (what it is now?) ~700 subscribers that are
obviously interested in _Linux_ related discussion.  So, while nobody
has an obligation to answer off-topic questions, it's definitely a 
bit impolite (to use a mild word) to expect the list server machine
to deliver 700 copies of your message and expect 700 people to read
it and delete it.
