I just saw your email and went "yes... something to get this working",
I did a locate for smb... and guess what I saw:
/etc/smbusers
/etc/samba/smbusers
I only changed /etc/samba/smbusers... I forgot that we upgraded this machine
from RH 6.2 -> 7...
changed /etc/smbusers, and all is well.
<sigh> I guess it's Friday.
