[ILUG] [OT] whois facility for *.uk domains

Hi Guys,

I am trying to do a whois on some .co.uk and .org.uk domains but am having
little success. For example if I do a command line whois putting in whois
fonefix.co.uk at whois.nic.uk I get no useful info back, it does not even tell
me if the domain is registered or not (is whois.nic.uk the correct whois
server ?).

But if I do the whois on the website it at least tells me that the domain is
registered.

Can any of you other ISP guys tell me if nominet offer a whois facility to
other ISPs similar to the one offered by the IEDR ?
