[ILUG] complete "dialup-firewall-networking-howto"

An alternative is to use a less general distro if you were creating
a stand-alone firewall/router/dialup box. I've heard good things
about http://www.coyotelinux.com/ The obvious advantage of a
floppy based distro is that you can write-protect it which is a big
advantage in a firewall.
