well I think in fairness it follows the pattern of characters from Toy Story.
   
Slink, Potato, Woody....
    
There may have been something before that, but it predates my use of debian.  If+anyone knows I'd be interested.
     
Anyway, in how many english speaking countries does woody have that meaning?
Most Irish slang words are totally without meaning (or even have a different
meaning) in the USA eg fanny (that's always a good one in particular
fanny-pack), wanker, craic etc.  Sorry for words which could be considered
offensive, but it's difficult to avoid here.
      
I don't think debian are to be blamed here.   
       
Incidentally, can anyone explain how the Redhat releases get named.  I've seen a+few which rather seemed to lack a pattern...
