[ILUG] SCSI

[ILUG] SCSI

Sorry I think I sent my first reply only to Paul.

Thanks for all the help in getting the first part of the problem sorted.

As fare as I know the second part is currently unsolvable but just in
case here are the output of the following.

scsi_info /dev/sda
SCSI_ID="0,0,0"
MODEL="DELL PERCRAID RAID5"
FW_REV="0001"

scsi_info /dev/sdb
SCSI_ID="4,0,0"
MODEL="MegaRAID LD0 RAID5 79512R"
FW_REV="1.57"

scsi_info /dev/sdc
SCSI_ID="4,0,1"
MODEL="MegaRAID LD1 RAID0 34678R"
FW_REV="1.57"

sda is on one RAID controller.

sdb and sdc are one the same channel on the same RAID controller.

sdc is the one I am now able to add and remove without the reboot.

cat /proc/scsi/scsi
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
  Vendor: DELL Model: PERCRAID RAID5 Rev: 0001
  Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Host: scsi2 Channel: 00 Id: 15 Lun: 00
  Vendor: Dell Model: 8 BAY U2W CU Rev: 0209
  Type: Processor ANSI SCSI revision: 03
Host: scsi2 Channel: 04 Id: 00 Lun: 00
  Vendor: MegaRAID Model: LD0 RAID5 79512R Rev: 1.57
  Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Host: scsi2 Channel: 04 Id: 00 Lun: 01
  Vendor: MegaRAID Model: LD1 RAID0 34678R Rev: 1.57
  Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02

ls /proc/scsi
aac  aic7xxx  megaraid  scsi

ls /proc/scsi/aac
0

ls /proc/scsi/megaraid
2

cat /proc/scsi/aac/0
Raid Controller, scsi hba number 0

cat /proc/scsi/megaraid/2

This last command returns nothing
ie the file /proc/scsi/megaraid/2 is a zero lenght file.

Sorry for forgetting to post these commands but I was just glad to get
the first thing working.

I hope some of these help.

MArk

P.S. In case you haven't guessed up until recently I hadn't had much
experience with SCSI.
