[ILUG] count of files in a directory

Hello

output of ls -la is 
jaquarROOT# cd test
jaquarROOT# ls -la
total 4
drwxrwxrwx   3 root     sys          512 Jul 31 06:37
.
drwxr-xr-x   3 root     other        512 Jul 31 06:44
..

how do i delete test???there two hiden folders sys and
others..
