right.. just to make things more fun... for whatever reason, when
I ssh from X on this machine to my main mail machine, Back space in
an input context (that isn't a shell) comes up as ^H...
I can fix it by doing stty erase ^H but I've never ever managed to work out
the canonical fix to all this (I used to have great fun with it in college)
anyone out there got the juice?
