you can force it in your /etc/rc.sysinit
rc.sysinit:
if statement looking for hostname variable,
HOSTNAME=thallywotsit
fi

has anyone else found that hostname doesnt set correctly in 7.0 / 7.1
either ?? I can't get it to work anyway ...
typing: "hostname thallophytic" sets it while the machine is running...
but once i reboot it reverts back to localhost.localdomain
i manually editted /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts also but got the same
result ...
