Thanks for the help but I am afraid it didn't offer any light as to whay it
did not work. I ran the htdig -v and it showed the files it was reading then
at the end it had what is below. If i delete the files in /opt/www/var/htdig
the web site gives an error saying cant find database at /opt/www/var/htdig.
So it is looking in the correct place. When I run htdig -v and then preform
a search it comes up with no search results. the files created by htdig are

Try running the rundig script in verbose mode. Also for www.rte.ie and
related sites I create a listing of webpages on the server everynight
with cron/bash script and link to it from the first page of each section
