[ILUG] "Ghost Sniffer"

[ILUG] "Ghost Sniffer"

<SNIP>
I'm going to try to have a "ghost" sniffer connected to my home DSL
circuit. What I mean by that is, an old 486 connected via an Ethernet
cable with the Rx pins wired only. I'm told that, if the NIC is in
promiscuous mode, it'll capture all traffic on the segment, but will be
completely invisible to any attacker, no matter how skilled... with no
Tx, it couldn't even be seen at Layer 1

Anyone know about this...?
