First you must have unix users,
so useradd is yer man.
eg: useradd cw (me that is)
passwd cw
then you must add the users to the /etc/samba/smbusers (default in RH7)
so type :
smbpasswd -a cw
There ya go. Basic I know but enough to test.
Use encrypyted passwords!!!! and also synchronise with unix passwords, else
its a pain to edit the registries on the win machines - and clear text
passwords is a no no.
The default smb.conf has some shares predefined, all you have to do is
uncomment them and make sure the directories exist.
Check out o'reilly samba book online - somewhere. I liked it so much that I
bought it. Good stuff.

You may use /tmp just to test.
I normally use swat afterwards coz it's soooo easy, and its web based.

CW

The only other problem i seem to have is setting up shares and users on
Samba! the how-tos seem cover everything except the simple tasks.
Thanks Again.
