I've been using Ogg Vorbis for all my music playback since sometime in
January.  I think it was Nick pointing out that the tools were in
unstable that spurred me into trying it out.

I'm not an audiophile, but I find that Vorbis sounds a tad better than
MP3 at roughly equivalent bitrates .  You can't really compare
directly because Vorbis is inherently VBR with a specified ceiling,
whereas it's an option with MP3.

The best reason of all for using Ogg Vorbis, however, is that it is
not encumbered by patents.

I always mention if a package is in Debian because it's what I use and
because giving that information is a lot more specific than saying
"there's an RPM available".  Saying "apt-get install foo" is
synonymous with saying "It's in Debian", not instructions as such.
